As a mom of a 2020 graduate of Spanish Fort High School and a current rising 10th grader in the BCBE pre-IB program, I have faced the same frustrations I have heard for years from families at the Spanish Fort Public Library:
- this city offers no place for my kids to safely hang out with their friends; there are not enough indoor recreation areas available to residents and neighborhoods are divided by dangerous highways.
- this city has no truly safe access for those who wish to walk or bike; even the available sidewalks and pedestrian crossings are dangerous due to the proximity of high speed traffic on Hwy 31 and AL-225.
- Commuter and school traffic on Hwy 31 is DANGEROUS.
Just like you, Spanish Fort is my home.
If this city isn't thriving, that greatly impacts our families' ability to thrive.
Speaking as a parent: I intend to get Spanish Fort off the couch, out of the house, and on the road to success by whatever means necessary.
